Sarmin Akther has been working as a Research Associate in Social and Gender Division of the Bangladesh Institute of Social Research (BISR) Trust since 2017. Besides, she is conducting research for MPhil degree in the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka. She obtained her BSS and MSS degrees from the same department.
Her fields of interests include sociological theory, gender, crime, women's empowerment and gender dimension of health. She regularly writes columns in various national dailies on these issues. She has already done several research works for several national and international organizations and some research articles and book chapters are in the process of being published from national and international publishers.
