Dr. M. Rezaul Islam is currently a Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Dhaka and Professor of Public Health and Director IQAC, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences (Development Policies) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Nottingham, England, as well as a Master of Social Sciences (MSS) and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) in Social Welfare from the University of Dhaka. With 28 years of professional experience,

Dr Islam has contributed internationally to teaching, research, and public speaking at prestigious institutions, including the University of Sydney, University of Cambridge, Boston University, University of Toronto, and many others across Australia, England, the USA, Canada, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, Belgium, Brazil, and Chile.

His research and teaching interests adopt a multidisciplinary approach to the social sciences, supported by an extensive publication record. He has 206 publications on Google Scholar, 222 on ResearchGate, and 115 on Scopus, with a total of 2,375 citations, 1,929 citations, and 1, 007 citations, respectively. His h-index stands at 25 on Google Scholar, 23 on ResearchGate, and 18 on Scopus. In recognition of his academic contributions,

he has been ranked 52nd (including self-citations) and 86th (excluding self-citations) out of 8,583 scientists worldwide in the latest 2024 Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings for the Social Work subfield. Across all disciplines, Dr Islam is ranked 99,031st. He serves on the International Advisory Board of the Community Development Journal and hold editorial positions with Asian Social Work and Policy Review, Local Development & Society, International Journal of Community Well-being, and SN Social Sciences.
